Dermal filler treatment involves multiple small injections, so some discomfort is possible. Many leading filler brands contain a local anaesthetic to help reduce pain. Numbing cream or ice may also be applied before treatment to make the area more comfortable.
Mild redness, swelling, bruising or itching can occur after treatment and usually settles within a few days. More serious complications are uncommon but can include infection, lumps, nodules or blocked blood vessels. Your practitioner should explain the signs to look out for and provide emergency contact details in case you have any concerns after treatment.
