Having a facial is a not a regular routine

Having a facial is a not a regular routine for most of us and quite often we are asked what the treatments entails and what should you do prior, during and post treatment. Regular facials will keep your skin flawless, whilst using the recommended salon products will ensure that the effects of the facial not only last long but the rejuvenation and improvement continues.

Having regular skin care routine will also go a long way to ensure your skin looks fresh and feels fabulous. We will show you how to have a skincare routine that is easy, calming, therapeutic as well as rejuvenating and reduces the use of unnecessary products. Not only will you save money in the long term but we will help you monitor the improvements by inviting you to our Skin Analysis Event.

Before your facial treatment:

  • Establish a skincare routine. Our 5 Step routine is easy to follow and implement. To find out more why not book a pre-treatment appointment where we will show you how, discuss your skincare concerns and recommend the correct facial for you.
  • Begin using the salon recommended products at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
  • Do not sunbathe for at least 2 weeks before your treatment. This is because your skin will be dehydrated and sensitive and may react to the skincare products used during your treatment.
  • Do NOT book a spray or manual tan treatment 2 weeks prior to your facial appointment. As our facials include the neck and decolletage it will make your tan appear uneven and blotchy.
  • Do NOT visit a Sauna or Steam Room 24 hours before your treatment.
  • Do not Wax or Shave 24 Hours before your treatment as your skin will still be sensitive and you may react to the skincare products used during your treatment
  • Do not have an IPL or Laser treatment done on the face, neck and decolletage for at 48 hours before your treatment as your skin will still be sensitive and you may react to the skincare products used during your treatment.
  • Botox, Dermal Fillers & machine-based Skin Rejuvenation Treatments. Wait for a minimum of 2 weeks before booking your facial treatment. However, we strongly advise you to you speak to the Aesthetician carrying out these treatments before booking your facial appointment.
  • Do NOT exfoliate a week before your facial appointment as it may your skin sensitive a

After your facial treatment:

  • Use the salon recommended Sun Protection.
  • Continue using the recommended products at all times and as directed by your Therapist. Keep your skin hydrated with the correct moisturiser.
  • Drink plenty of water, preferably room temperature, prior to and post treatment.
  • You may have some redness and that is perfectly normal. Where you have been using the recommended products and where the redness is excessive call us immediately.
  • Post treatment, where you are using products other than those recommended by us, you may find that the redness takes a little longer to settle down and there is a possibility of infection or a reaction. Please call us and let us know, but speak to a medical practitioner too.
  • Do not use a Facial Steamer, go to a Steam Room, Sauna, Hot Bath, Hot Tubs or Shower for at least 438 hours. Steam increases the core temperature of the body and causes an increased amount of circulation in the blood, which can lead to inflammation.
  • Avoid direct heat such as intense sunlight & sunbeds for at least 48 hours.
  • Do not book your Botox/Dermal Filler injection on the same day.
  • Do not undertake any other facial skincare treatments within 48 hours of your facial treatment and avoid any form of exfoliation.
  • Do not wash your face that evening as it will allow the products to absorb better. The next morning, you return to your regular facial regimen.
  • Do not apply perfume or perfumed products to the treated areas for at least 48 hours
  • Avoid wearing make-up such as foundation, tinted moisturiser, pressed/loose powder, blusher, eye concealer immediately after your facial. Mascara and Lipstick are fine but remove them with a gentle cleansing cream – do not use facial wipes.
  • Avoid any facial Waxing, Shaving or Laser Hair Removal between 24 & 48 hours or as advised by your Therapist.
